RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON BIOGRAPHY

Richard Dean Anderson was born in Minnesota and studied drama at St. Cloud State University and Ohio University. His travels took him to New York City and San Francisco, before finally settling in Los Angeles where he worked as a street mime and juggler for a short time. In 1976 he was cast as Dr. Jeff Webber on the daytime TV series General Hospital. The biggest break in his career came in 1985 when he was cast as Angus MacGyver, the lead role of the new TV series MacGyver which ran for 7 successful seasons. Following this, he played in several movies including Pride of the Marines, Past the Bleachers, In the Eyes of a Stranger and Beyond Betrayal. In 1995 he starred as Ernest Pratt/Nicodemus Legend in the TV series Legend and followed this by starring in the NBC miniseries Pandora's Clock. In 1997 he starred as Colonel Jack O'Neill in Stargate SG1, the continuation of the Stargate movie. He left Stargate in 2004 in order to spend more time with his new daughter.
