Alan Bean was the lunar module pilot on the Apollo 12 mission, man's second lunar landing. In November 1969, Bean and Charles Conrad landed in the moons Ocean of Storms, where they explored the lunar surface and deployed several lunar surface experiments. They also installed the first nuclear power generator station on the moon to provide the power source. Alan Bean became the 3rd man to walk on the moon.
Alan Bean was spacecraft commander of the Skylab Mission II (SL-3) in September 1973, a mission that established a 59-day, 24,400,000 mile record setting flight.
