Mercury Astronauts (6)

Very rare black & white photograph personally autographed by 6 of the original 'Mercury 7' NASA Astronauts.

The 'Mercury 7' astronauts were John Glenn, Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra, Gordon Cooper and Deke Slayton. These pioneering astronauts were the inspiration for the book and film, 'The Right Stuff'. Alan Shepard went on to become the first US man in space and was the 5th man to walk on the moon. John Glenn was the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the Earth, completing three orbits in a 5 hour flight on February 20, 1962 in the spaceship 'Friendship 7'. Sadly, Gus Grissom was killed in a fire on the launch pad test while preparing for a launch one month later.

This NASA photo has been personally autographed by all of the Mercury 7 astronauts with the exception of Gus Grissom.
